Does any one know anything about the security system on 97up F body. Here recently i go to crank my car and the security light comes on and will not crank. I have to wait five mintues for the light to go off and then it will crank. I need help it is aggravating me to death.

Yes my Formula is plagged with that from time to time. Mine is caused by a worn out key, or actually a worn down chip in my key. You can replace key or take ohm meter and measure the resistance of the chip in your key, and locate the wires under dash and put a equal resistance resistor in the loop and disable the feature. On a 3rd gen its two yellow wires in steering column. Not sure on a 4th gen. If you can edit your ecm, just disabling the VATS should do the trick also.

I had the same problem on my 94 red cutlass. Same setup as camaro. Mine was in the switch. I would turn the key wouldnt do anything then sit for a second and turn it again and it would start. A wire in the ign. switch came loose and you have to get another switch. BEWARE THOSE KEYS ARE EXPENSIVE!!!

Found the problem took me long enough it was the trunk latch doing it. ;D
